Brenda Warrington announced as Chairperson of local Citizens Advice service.
Brenda Warrington has been announced as the new Chairperson of the local Citizens Advice service across Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale and Trafford.
Brenda, who is a current councillor for Denton West in Tameside, former Leader of Tameside Council and Greater Manchester Combined Authority member, responsible for Equalities, Healthy Lives and Quality Care, and also Chair of the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, replaces Phil Aspden, who retired at the end of July.
Brenda’s appointment is part of a general strengthening of our board, eusring we have the skills and knowledge to navigate through the challenging times facing the charity and wider country ahead.
Interim Chairperson Peter Allen said:
“The board of trustees is delighted to welcome Brenda Warrington as the new Chairperson, following a comprehensive recruitment and selection process. Brenda brings a wealth of experience at a time when local people are turning to Citizens Advice for help in this cost of living crisis.”
Brenda Warrington said:
“It’s a pleasure to take over as Chairperson of this great charity. Local Citizens Advice services are needed now more than ever as people continue to struggle with increasing household costs.
“I’d like to pay credit to the staff and volunteers who work so hard, day in and day out to ensure local people get the advice and support they need. I’m looking forward to helping the organisation navigate the challenges ahead and making sure we continue to increase access to independent and impartial advice, in an equitable way”
Jonathan Yates, Chief Executive Officer, said:
“My fellow executives and I are pleased to have someone with Brenda’s experience joining our charity.
“Brenda really understands the challenge we’re facing as demand for our services grows. Access to independent and impartial information, advice and guidance has never been more critical as people grapple with the challenges of increased mortgage and rent payments and stagnating wages and benefits.
